Presenters: Dr. Ida Jones, CK Ming, Sandra Aya Enimil, DeLisa Minor Harris, Louisa Kwasigroch, Sharon Burney, Alyson Pope, Lizzi Albert, and Jane Larson Digitizing Hidden Collections: Amplifying Unheard Voices (DHC:AUV) Applicant Support Series This final session offers reminders and advice to those preparing final applications for the 2026 Digitizing Hidden Collections: Amplifying Unheard Voices program. The CLIR Grants Team is joined by a panel of CLIR community experts: Dr. Ida Jones, CK Ming, Sandra Aya Enimil, and DeLisa Minor Harris. In this session, program officers answer applicant questions about the program requirements and panelists provide guidance on developing a rights, ethics, & re-use plan; assessing collections; designing an achievable and sustainable digitization plan; and determining and justifying budget and staffing needs. Digitizing Hidden Collections: Amplifying Unheard Voices is a grant competition administered by the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) for digitizing rare and unique content stewarded by collecting organizations in the US and Canada. Launched in 2021, with the generous support of the Mellon Foundation, the program has awarded approximately $12 million to archives, historical societies, libraries, museums, and other collecting organizations to deepen public understanding of the histories of people of color and other communities and populations whose work, experiences, and perspectives have been insufficiently recognized or unattended. The program builds upon the foundation of the previous iteration, Digitizing Hidden Special Collections and Archives, which awarded $20,000,000 in digitization grants from 2016 to 2020.
