About

The 1985 annual report of the Council on Library Resources (CLR) describes an underlying uniformity of purpose in the activities of each of the three components of the program: research, exploration and installation of improved operating capabilities, and librarianship itself. The intent in each program is to reshape academic and research libraries so that their strengths are retained while they add the new capabilities that the future demands. Preliminary materials include lists of members of the council and of the board of directors, council committees and officers, and council staff and consultants. A review of the primary areas of activity during 1984-1985 comprises sections on: Research Activities (An Expanded Research Program; The Economics of Research Libraries); Library Operations and Services: (Resources, Preservation, and Access; Bibliographic Services); and Librarianship and Librarians. Appended materials include a CLR statement on Scholarship, Research, and Access to Information; lists of program committees and project participants; a list of publications resulting from CLR-supported programs and fellowships; program guidelines and grant application procedures; grants and contracts active in fiscal 1985; and opinion of independent accountants and financial statements.
